About the Author
Dr. Tamdin Sither Bradley graduated from the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute in Dharamsala, India, and has studied under the late senior personal physician of the Dalai Lama. My 10 year old advanced reader loves this series. I was looking for a new series for him but struggled because he just isn't that into the fantasy type series. He prefers stories about real life. I was concerned the subject might be too much for his age but it is told in an age appropriate way. He devoured the whole series.

I rarely post reviews since I am so busy, but this book deserves a thoughtful review. I picked up the book for my 11yo son's summer reading list. He is hooked on anything WWII, but glamorizes war and the military aspects of the war (which is normal!). I wanted him to see another side... the ugly side of war. I read the book before giving it to him and I think this book is perfect for that goal. I get some of the negative reviews, but I am actually grateful for the way the story is told. If it wasn't told high level and a bit detached, it would be way to intense (and long) to be a children's book. The topic alone is about as intense as it gets and Yanek's experience spanned almost a decade. All that being said, there are some scenes that are emotional and scary. I think the balance is good, but as a parent, we know our kids best and when they are ready for this type of thing. I recommend you read it first before giving to your child so you can discuss what happens and give support if he/she is on the younger side of the age range.I downloaded the book to his kindle tonight and he doesn't want to put it down! Can I read one more chapter before going to bed? In one night, he started the book and read to chapter 6... did I mention my son really isn't a reader?!

Amazing story. My child read it for school but I got into the story equally. It is an amazing story about the Holocaust and survival based on true events reported to the author. The author takes you first hand into the life of a child during WWII and what he goes through to survive.

Bought for my son's summer reading. I decided to read it, couldn't wait to read after I started it.

Prisoner B-3087 is a very moving story that tells of the hardships of simply being Jewish during what we call the Holocaust. I recommend this book because it shows how we are so very very very 'lucky' for what we have and that we should see life for not what it is but for what it could be.

The young boy Yanek learned that the only way to stay alive was to survive one more day. Yanek survived 10 concentration camps between the age of 13 and 16. Before the camp she survived the Krakow ghetto as a child. This corageous young man survived the war and immigrated to the USA. The book is a story of hardship and courage.

I can't imagine what I would have done during the Holocaust. For the many souls who died, they are with God. For the survivors, there's a special place in heaven for you with your family. This is a story of fear, starvation, and the horrible atrocities inflicted on people that one insane man claimed were not deserving of life. A Story of a little boy who saw his family members and friends disappear from his life, but against all of the odds kept his determination to live no matter what he endured. When we start to feel sorry for ourselves, we need to remember the Holocaust, and it's victims and survivors.

If you have a classroom library, REGARDLESS of what you teach, you MUST have this book in your library. Every student wanted to read this and after every student read this, recommended it to all their friends. I had to buy a class set from Scholastic to feed the frenzy! Highly recommend!

About the Author
Christopher T. Russell has written over 1500 articles in books and journals on planetary and space physics and has been cited over 45,000 times. He has been awarded the AGU's Macelwane medal, its Fleming medal and COSPAR's Science award. He has been a principal investigator on numerous missions including ISEE 1 and 2, Pioneer Venus, the ISTP/Polar mission and the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission. He is also the Principal Investigator of the ion-propelled Dawn Discovery mission to the asteroid belt.

Janet G. Luhmann has authored or co-authored over 600 publications in areas of space and planetary physics and served as Senior Editor for the Journal of Geophysical Research, Space Physics. She has been awarded AGU's Fleming medal and COSPAR's Science award. She has been an Investigator on numerous NASA and NSF projects involving the Sun's control of the space environments of the Earth and planets, most recently the STEREO mission to observe the 3D effects of solar activity in the inner solar system, and the MAVEN mission to study Mars atmosphere escape to space.

Robert J. Strangeway is an author or co-author on over 200 publications covering a variety of space physics topics. He regularly teaches the Introduction to Space Physics course at the University of California, Los Angeles, which is the basis for this book. He is currently the Senior Editor for the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics. In addition to serving as an Investigator with the missions AMPTE/CCE, Pioneer Venus and FAST he was the Principal Investigator for the magnetometers developed for Space Technology 5.

About the Author

Penny Simkin, P.T., is a physical therapist, childbirth educator, doula, and birth counselor. She is nationally recognized as a premier authority on childbirth, having helped 9,000 expecting women and birth partners in childbirth and attended hundreds of couples though the birth process. Simkin is a prolific author and serves on more than ten different consultant and editorial boards, including the journal Birth: Issues in Perinatal Care, The International Childbirth Education Association, and The Seattle Midwifery School, where she also provides training for doulas and lectures for the students. She has written myriad books, journal and magazine articles. She is also co-founder of DONA International (formerly Doulas of North America) and The Pacific Association for Labor Support.
